David Glover's Triathlon Consulting Services

Hire David as your Personal Triathlon Consultant on a retainer basis

dg-061As one client recently told David:

"Simply put, outstanding coaches take athletes where they are unable to take themselves. David Glover is one of those coaches." - Tom Impellitteri, Ironman USA 2009

If you have ever hired an attorney or worked with a CPA then you most likely gave that attorney or accountant a retainer and they worked against it by simply keeping track of the time they spent on your account.

You can now consult with David in the same way for triathlon and other endurance sports.

You pay a retainer to David, which buys a certain number of hours which you are free to use when and how you would like by contacting him with your questions and challenges via phone or email.

If possible, David will respond with answers to your questions within 24 hours (except when he's organizing events like the Luray Triathlon or traveling to a race).

The consulting service gives you the flexibility and freedom to use David's 20+ years of triathlon and endurance sports experience at your convenience when you need his help the most.

What's so special about David?

3562Hopefully, the testimonials on this website from a wide variety of satisfied clients will show David’s proven track record and reputation for results.

First and foremost, David both "talks the talk" and "walks the walk" of a triathlete and triathlon coach by bringing a tremendous amount of experience, education and wisdom to each client.

An actively racing triathlete with an elite (pro) license, David has competed in more than 100 triathlons since 1995 including 26 Ironman-distance triathlons with a personal best time of 8:51 (Quelle Challenge '07).  David has also qualified for Ironman Hawaii multiple times and won 5x Ironman-distance events overall with many more top 10 overall finishes, most recently finishing 4th overall at Vineman in August '09.

David is certified as a coach by both USA Triathlon and USA Cycling.  He has a BS in Computer Science from the U.S. Naval Academy and an MSE in Engineering Management from Catholic University.  He is currently pursuing an MS in Applied Performance Physiology through Eastern Michigan University.

In addition to the numerous articles and eBooks he's written about triathlon training and racing, David published Full Time & Sub-Nine: Fitting Iron Distance Training into Everyday Life in 2006, a book about his experiences with the Navy and the Naval Academy, surviving cancer and his rise from an age grouper to an elite Iron distance triathlete while working full time.  David also writes a regular column for Tri-DC Magazine called "The Athlete's Edge."

One of his most satisfying aspects of coaching is receiving feedback from satisfied clients who tell him about their races.  In the words of one of his clients who completed her first Ironman, "I did it!!!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!! YOU'RE THE BEST!!!"

4. Do we meet in person, talk over the phone, communicate via email?

It's entirely up to you.  You have the flexibility to choose whatever format works best for you. Some clients prefer to meet face-to-face but most will communicate primarily via phone or email.

5. Is there a set format to follow?

No. Many of David’s clients have specific questions such as planning a triathlon season; choosing a triathlon bike; tapering for an Ironman, developing a race day strategy; whatever. . . . they just don’t know how to go about it. They want and need David to “tell them what to do."  Other clients need David to help them figure out the answers to the questions they don't even know to ask. Each session is adaptable to your unique needs and questions.

6. Do we need to schedule our time together?

If you want to work in person or want a phone appointment at a specific time then you will need tocontact David in advance via email or phone to arrange a scheduled appointment.

Otherwise, if you want to ask a quick question(s), you are welcome to just email or call him.  He’ll get back to you with answers and recommendations.

7. Can I send David my training plan to evaluate or ask him to write a training plan for me?

Absolutely. Many clients value David's ability to craft training plans from scratch that puts them on the path to success.  David doesn't just give you a "cookie cutter" schedule.  He adds his own experiences, observations and wisdom to customize a plan to your unique abilities, experiences, constraints and goals.

8.  How long does it take for David to get back to me if I ask him to review a training plan?

If your request can be handled within 24 hours, it will be.  If the scope of the work you have submitted is more complex and will take him longer than 2 hours of on-the-clock time, David will email an estimate of the time it will take to complete your request for your approval before he proceeds.

9.  How much lead time does David need to prepare for a phone or in-person appointment?

Please submit your questions and material at least 48 hours in advance of a scheduled appointment to ensure that David will have enough time to apply his experience and wisdom to your questions and prepare appropriate recommendations to ensure that you make the most of your time together.

10.  How do I know how much time we've used and how much is left in my account?

David keeps a written record of the time spent on your account, just as an attorney or accountant does, in 15 minute increments.  We will notify you when you have one hour or less remaining on your retainer.  You can then choose how you'd like to use that hour or elect to pay for another retainer agreement.  You are welcome to contact us at any time for an update on the hours remaining in your account.

11. Can I obtain more time with David if needed?

Absoutely.  You are welcome to extend your consulting plan at any time.

12.  Is there a time limit in which I have to use my hours?

Yes – you need to use your hours within one year of the start date of your retainer plan.

13. On a tight budget?

Would you like to benefit from David’s triathlon expertise but are not ready to work with him one-on-one yet?

Consider ordering David's book, "Full Time and Sub-Nine: Fitting Iron Distance Training into Everyday Life" or downloading one of his eBooks, the practical "no fluff" endurance sports training resource.
